On the New Moon in Cancer and with the Sun in Cancer too,
I co-created a Monterey Cypress Essence.

The tree first called me during one of my walks towards the river. Such beautiful lush & green colors for which many evergreens are known.
The fresh, green cone fruits, shining and showing off under its yummy scented green branches.
I have a thing for evergreens. Due to their wonderful, purifying scent and effect and because of their resilience. Where they help me remember my own strength, sometimes I seem to forget in the midst of my sensitivities ; ).
There is no better time than with the Sun and the New Moon moving in the watery, sensitive, caring and nourishing Archetypal Mother energy of Cancer, to co-create a beautiful essence.

When I arrive at the tree I realize that it is close to the house where I spent months of lockdown 2020, what a wonderful synchronicity — Later I will meet a man at the river who shows me the garden underneath that house and the owner turns out to be the daughter of someone who specializes in Essence making, haha, life can be magical like that :).
Anyway,
I lovingly asked the tree if I could harvest some twigs to make the essence at the river.
I ask for a tap on my shoulder, but the tree has a sense of humor and taps my nose a few times. I have to laugh and I know I have permission to gently harvest a few branches with respect and gratitude and continue my journey towards the river.
What a wonderful moment. I prepare my handmade bowl from the Alpujarras and place my intentions and prayers to the Sun, the Moon, the sacred waters, the tree and beings that help to bring this co-creation into form. There's also a stone who's joining the Alchemical party.
I made essences of a tree (The Larch) and a mushroom (the Birch Polypores) before, but this essence making was something else. It was softer and more flowing. So pure, simple and clear. I feel like I am definitely building confidence in doing it, it feels so natural.
Buzzy bees come to drink from the waterbowl, a butterfly seeks rest on the stone where the bowl is placed, a falcon flies over the essence and two buzzards make their way through the valley. What a blessing to have all these beautiful creatures be a part of this experience.

"Narrow and pyramid-shaped when young, the cypress spreads with age and can grow up to 90 feet tall. The high coastal winds transform the tree into irregular shapes with flat tops resembling a bonsai tree. The bright green foliage, which has a lemony smell when crushed, has scale-like leaves approximately two inches long. The Monterey cypress has small yellow flowers in the spring. The fruit can grow up to one inch long and is covered by a dry, hard coating.
Some cones, however, will open under the heat of a hot summer day, and some regeneration will take place in unburned habitat."
As I tune into the Cypress I learn that it stands for deep grounding and resourcefulness.
The beautiful, fresh & green cone fruits tell me about the tree's strength & power to create abundance and resilience.
His medicine tells me to really let the resources arise and grow from within. We have everything we need inside me to make our life fruitful & happening.
I Also learned that after a devastating forest fire the Monterey Cypress opens its cone fruits and releases its seeds to maintain its chance of survival, isn't this magical ? Some cones, however, will also open under the heat of a hot summer day, and some regeneration will take place in unburned habitat.
This does tell me about its special strenght of survival during difficult circumstances and embracing the rebirth after a time of deep transformation.
Fully honouring the life/death/rebirth cycle of this human experience.
We can remember and reclaim this power within ourselves too, to connect with ourselves, our own worth aka (w)aarde in Dutch, our origins and our ancestral roots and the Sun and New Moon in cancer reminding us of self nourishment and care during stages of growth and transition.
Rooted in self, growing strong, coming home to yourself wherever you are and to be resourceful from within along the way.
