I have a sitting spot here in the valley where I pray to the Earth Spirits. Where I include the elements and offer herbs, sticks, shells and stones at the Altar.
I recently found out this spot is coincidentally diagonally across from where I used to drum almost every day a few years back under a big old olive tree.
What are the odds ? Maybe there’s an important Ley Line here ? I might look that one up later.
In 2021, when I visited these lands for the second time, I met a woman who I became friends with and who's been living here for 22 years. While visiting her home recently she told me how there were almost no people living in the valley when she first arrived and rooted here. I thought that was so incredibly interesting.
Like almost no humans ? This means the wild could roam here freely, up until only a few decades ago.
Back in 2020, when the whole world was in lockdown, planes no longer flew, people no longer were on the move and were locked in their homes, Earth went through a reset.
And through the stillness of the world, I could hear the Earth's calling.
I went to the river to connect and drum to the land almost every day and started to hear the water, stones, trees and mountains speak and I felt certain deities roaming these wilder landscapes too.

Pan = God of nature, the wild, shepherds, flocks, and mountain wilds.
In Greek Mythology, a fertility deity, more or less bestial in form. He was associated by the Romans with Faunus.
A faun is a nature creature I once saw
roaming at Pan’s Hedge at the wild Veluwe in the Netherlands.
Also how beautiful is it that our ancestors named this little piece at the edge of the forest after Pan and it’s exactly the place where I saw this Faun creature roaming, I find that incredibly beautiful.

Pan is the deity who accompanies the shepherds. It's a raw energy we shouldn't take lightly. It is wild, primal, sexual, .. and also very chaotic and destructive when not used wisely.
Pan likes to dance, play (music), celebrate life’s and Earthy pleasures, .. Yet, when the energy is out of balance and edgy, chaos comes lurking around the corner. Shadows like madness, alcohol and drug abuse, excessive sexual behavior, ..
Not a lot of people are capable of holding the balance between this constant tention and edge of both light & dark.
You see, this is a Power place. Power places are very beautiful to witness, to recharge and to connect to. The light gets illuminated. Places like this can enhance spiritual awakenings and profound Visions and experiences and yet, also the dark is illuminated. It takes a strong will to live here 24/7. Everyone who lives here can confirm that they sometimes need a break and go to 'lighter' areas to release some pressure ;). Me and my friends often visit the beach where we cleanse in the salty waters and get a glimpse of the horizon.
When you learn how to work and balance these energies well, these wild places are very beneficial to heal any wounds and reclaim any lost parts of your sexuality and raw sensual expression.
Also funny note to share is that I personally very often end up rooting in places where Pan is roaming the land and forests. I do am a wildling at heart and in my bones and reclaiming the wild woman within me has been my path for quite a while now. I once lived in a home where Pan was roaming the nearby forest and before I rooted there, a community had been sharing the land, which eventually fell apart due to drugs and alcohol abuse. You see, chaos and destruction are always close when Pan is near. Living on the (h)edge isn't for everyone. It takes a strong will to dance with the wild of these Mountains.
Hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it !
Shared with love and wildness,
